The Open Tool allows you to select photometric files anywhere on your computer or network and checks the selected file for photometric errors or inconsistencies.
Up to 25 photometric files may be opened and analyzed simultaneously in Photometric Toolbox. Use the Open Tool or the InstaBase Tool to open photometric files in PTB.
The Open Tool opens photometric files in IES format as well as EULUMDAT and CIBSE photometric files . Minor photometric errors, classified as warnings, will be repaired with this tool. Major photometric errors, that make the photometric file unusable or invalid, may be repaired automatically. These photometric files should be replaced with corrected photometric data or repaired in Photometric Toolbox using Automatic or Manual Repair.
When EULUMDAT and CIBSE photometric files are opened, they are converted to IES format files, internally, so that you may use them with all of the PTB tools (Reports, View, Edit, Template, etc.).
Whenever you open or save a file in a non-native format (i.e., CIBSE or EULUMDAT), Photometric Toolbox will always display the files as IES files (its native format). To see the CIBSE or EULUMDAT file in their "raw" version, use Notepad.
Note: European File formats with photometric errors are not repaired with the Automatic Repair option. There is not enough data available for these formats for an Automatic Repair to be completed correctly. Instead, users will be able to edit the Raw data file with the Manual Repair dialog.
