Viewpoints in Model Mode - Procedures
A Viewpoint is a view of the environment that you would like to easily reference or return to. It is similar to Previous View, except that it is saved with the file, and it can be inserted into a report (in a Viewport).
The Viewpoint toolbar has a list of created Viewpoints (once they have been defined), and buttons for adding, updating, and deleting Viewpoints.
To Add a Viewpoint
- To add a new Viewpoint to the list, enter a name in the field to the left of the Add button, and then click the Add button.
- The default name is Viewpoint_1. If that name is acceptable, simply click the Add button.
- Navigate to the next position you wish to save as a Viewpoint, and either click the Add button again (the name will be incremented) or enter a new name and then click Add.
- The Viewpoint names will populate the list in the Viewpoint field (left-most field on the Viewpoint toolbar) and be sorted alpha-numerically.
Defined Viewpoints
- The left-most field in the Viewpoints toolbar shows the name of the current Viewpoint.
- To return to a previously saved Viewpoint: Click the down-arrow next to the Viewpoint field to see the entire list. Click on the desired Viewpoint.
- If you navigate to a different position from there, the Viewpoint will be set to a "pending" or unsaved state, and the name will have *** preceding it. Example: *** Viewpoint_1. This new position may be saved as a new Viewpoint by clicking on the Add button to use the default name, or entering a new name and then clicking on the default button.
- The left and right arrows
in the Viewpoint toolbar enable you to scroll through the Viewpoints list. If on the list name in the list, scrolling forward takes you to the beginning of the list. (The list wraps.)
- To delete a Viewpoint from the list: Select that Viewpoint from the list, and then click on the Delete Viewpoint button.
The current Viewpoint is deleted, and the next one in the list is then displayed. This makes it easy to delete several Viewpoints in a row if desired.
- To change a defined Viewpoint to be something different, first select the Viewpoint name from the list. Next, navigate to the desired position. Finally, click on the Update Viewpoint button.
General notes
- Saved Viewpoints are not backwards compatible (will not be recognized if the AGI file is opened in a version of AGi32 prior to v17.1).
- If opened in a version of AGi32 that is older than v17.1, the Viewpoint will be displayed with View Type = Extents.
- Viewpoints may be added to Viewports in Reports. See Create Viewport and Viewport Properties for more details.
