The Measure Distance command is used to verify a distance between two points along a line or the angle of orientation of a line counterclockwise from computer East (World Coordinate zero). The length and orientation angles are continuously updated as the cursor is moved along the screen.
- From the Tools
menu choose Measure - Distance,
or from the Common toolbar select
.
- Locate the first endpoint on the line with the left mouse button.
- Drag the cursor along the distance of the line or in the direction of the orientation angle. The length and orientation angle of the line are displayed dynamically in the coordinate window at the bottom of the screen.
- Multiple-segment lines may be measured by left-clicking consecutive points. The cumulative length is displayed in the coordinate area at the bottom of the screen.
- Right click (or press Enter on keyboard) to terminate the command.
The total measured distance is displayed temporarily on the screen as Total Length near the last point, until the next command is initiated.
