Moving Luminaires

Luminaires can be moved in any direction while maintaining their current aiming angles or aiming points.

The Move Luminaire command moves the luminaires without changing the aiming angles. As an example, if a luminaire is tilted, it maintains that same tilt angle after being moved with this command. Aiming Points are recalculated. Luminaire groups and luminaire arrangements can only use the Move command.

The Move Luminaire - Same Aiming Points command moves the luminaires and keeps the original aiming points. The aiming angles are recalculated according to the magnitude and direction of the move. This will often be used when floodlights need to be moved but still aimed at the same points.

To move a luminaire and keep its same orient, tilt, roll and/or spin position:

  1. From the Modify menu select Luminaire - Move, or from the Luminaire Toolkit select image\luminaire_move_button.jpg.
  2. To select multiple luminaires, click on the pull-down arrow to the right of the button to invoke the secondary menu. Select Window or All.
  3. If you selected Single or Window, select the luminaire(s) to move. The Command Line will indicate the number of luminaires selected.
  4. Select the point to move from (the base point) with the mouse. (If using relative coordinates, skip this step.)
  5. Move the cursor to the new location point and left click, or type in the X,Y,Z coordinates and press Enter.
  6. The command is still active; you may move another luminaire or right-click or press Esc to end the command.

To move a luminaire and keep it aimed at the original aiming points:

  5. Move the cursor to the new location point and left click, or type in the new X,Y,Z coordinates and press Enter.
  6. The command is still active; you might move another luminaire or right-click or press Esc to end the command.

Note: When doing a relative move in the Z direction, the elevation slice (Z coordinate) does note change, i.e., remains at the current Z coordinate after completing the command.
