MLO Additional Lumen Allowance Worksheet
As part of determining the Total Site Lumen Limit for the MLO's Performance Method, additional lumen allowances may be claimed, as described in the MLO (Table E). The types of additional allowances available depends on the type of project. The MLO lists Service Stations and Outdoor Sales Facilities as two special types. Everything that is not one of these types would fall into what AGi32 shows as General Buildings.
To access the Additional Lumen Allowance Worksheet (while in the Obtrusive Light Compliance Test dialog), click on the Allowance Worksheet button. (You must first have selected IDA/IES MLO-2011 as the Standard and then the Lighting Zone for the project.)
Select the type of project: General Buildings, Service Station, or Outdoor Sales Facility.
In the Quantity column, enter values as appropriate for any of the additional allowances that apply to your project.
Important:
- For General Buildings, a maximum of 3 allowances may be claimed.
- Some allowances have restrictions. As an example, for Entrances/Exits to be claimed, luminaires must be within a certain distance. See the MLO for details on restrictions.
- If Service Station or Outdoor Sales Facility is selected, only the allowances for that selection may be claimed; the allowances under General Buildings may not be claimed for Service Stations or Outdoor Sales Facilities.
The values shown for the allowances depend on the Lighting Zone selected in the previous dialog.
Once the appropriate allowances have been entered, click OK to return to the Obtrusive Light Compliance Test dialog. The Total from the Allowances Worksheet is now displayed in the Additional Allowance field.
Notes:
- Selecting a different Lighting Zone will reset the Additional Allowance value to 0. You will need to return to the worksheet to select the allowances that apply.
- If allowances were selected in the Allowance Worksheet on a previous project, AGi32 will remember those allowances when that same Lighting Zone is selected again. Be sure to check the Allowances Worksheet to make sure that the selections are correct for the current project.
