Calculations Along Lines Concepts
The Calculation Points Line command allows you to specify calculation points measuring Illuminance along a user defined line, which may be drawn manually or an existing line selected.
The line segments may be drawn in any direction, and each one may have a different elevation point if desired. The calculation points are evenly distributed along the line segments according to the spacing value specified.
Each vertex on the line may have a different Z value. This attribute allows you to follow the contour of curving ramps where the ramp elevation is continuously changing.
Parallel lines of points may be specified as "arrays." The arrays may be created in a horizontal or vertical plane.
Illuminance points along lines are used in many types of lighting applications:
- Perimeter spill lighting - vertical and horizontal Illuminance measurements
- Illuminance on a curved ramp with changing elevation
- Pedestrian Lighting for arbitrary paths
- Anywhere you need Illuminance calculations in a non-grid fashion
The little line extending from the point is the meter indicator, showing the direction that the light meter is facing to "collect" light.
Compatibility with earlier versions: Points along a line created in version 2.2 or later will calculate in earlier versions of AGi32, and the meter indicators will be visible. However, if the points are edited, the meter indicators will disappear.
